Sara and Chris in White Lake, Michigan

Two weekends ago I had the pleasure of working with Sara and Chris on their wedding and reception at the Indian Springs Metro Park. Their ceremony was held in the Oak Circle, surrounded by a blooming prairie and against the backdrop of a beautiful, old oak tree. (Hopefully I get some pictures of their ceremony from the photographer!) The reception was just up the hill at the award-wining Environmental Discovery Center (EDC). Sara and Chris selected a yellow, green and chocolate color scheme. It effortlessly complimented the prairie, wetlands, and ponds within the park.

The bridal bouquet was an eclectic mix of chocolate cosmos, scabiosa pods, seeded eucalyptus, hydrangea, leucadendron, bupleurum, millet, astilbe, spray roses, freesia and mini callas. It was finished with a copper-beaded stem wrap. It combined that just-gathered look with a hint of couture.

the Environmental Discovery Center event room

The EDC’s event room was pretty spectacular, and quite modern. As a former architecture student, I really enjoyed how the structure was expressed within the space. And for those guests who could care less about glulam beams and lateral bracing, the room also had a great view with two walls of windows that overlook the surrounding pond and prairie!

tall cattail centerpieces

There were two different centerpiece styles. We brought the outdoors in with tall centerpieces of cattails.

The low centerpieces also harkened back to the wetland theme with lotus pod accents.

I absolutely loved this oversized cup cake for the cake cutting! How perfect!

Congratulations Sara and Chris!

Kori and Eric in Bloomfield Hills and Livonia

On August 1st I had a great wedding with a vibrant color scheme and an equally enthusiastic couple. Kori and Eric knew that they wanted something upbeat to match their personalities, and together we dreamed up a tiffany blue and pink color scheme.  The reception was held at the Italian American Banquet Center in Livonia. All of the planning paid off on the big day and the color scheme came together perfectly! The chair ties were an exact match for the vase and candle wraps.

There were three different centerpieces at the reception. The tall centerpieces doubled as altar arrangements. Then there were matching low centerpieces. The third centerpiece was made up of a cluster of tiffany blue candles surrounded by Hot Lady roses.

Here’s a peak at the planning process. The flower boards that we created are a nice reflection of the final product.

And here’s the board for the personal flowers… I can’t wait to see the pro-shots of Kori and Eric with their flowers!

Congratulations Kori and Eric! You were an absolute dream to work with!

***update***

Here are a couple photos I snagged off of Facebook. The first picture is of Kori and Eric in front of the Stone Chapel at St. Hugo of the Hills where they had their ceremony.

Don't Kori and Eric look absolutely amazing together?! Oh, and did I mention that Eric is a fire fighter? What an incredible prop for wedding photos!

Congratulations again!

Mary Anne and Michael at the Detroit Golf Club

In mid-May I received a phone call from Mary Anne. We had a great phone conversation about her upcoming reception at the Detroit Golf Club, and two weeks later I met her and her two best friends, Jeannie and Vicki, for an on-site consultation.

Mary Anne and her friends had already done the hard work, organizing the details and selecting beautiful linens, all I had to do was bring the flowers! The white and green centerpieces, inspired by photos from the bride, had an abundant garden look. They contained hydrangea, roses, mini callas, scabiosa, waxflower, bupleurum, and scented geranium with an aspidistra leaf wrap tucked into the vase.

A third large arrangement graced the sixteen foot dessert buffet (I wish that I could have stayed for that!) All of the glass vases and votives were wrapped in silk to complete the look.

Mary Anne, Jeannie and Vicki really know how to throw a party, and were a blast to work with! Thank you ladies! And congratulations to the newly-wed couple, Mary Anne and Michael!
